The grand opening for Nate’s Place, A Wellness and Recovery Center, named for Nordhoff High School graduate Nathan Rhoades, was packed Feb. 23 with volunteers, friends, family and city, county and state officials, celebrating the accomplishment of Nate’s parents, Larry and Heidi Rhoades, to honor the memory of their son and help young people struggling with life challenges or recovering from substance abuse.

Their 21-year-old son passed away in January 2022, following a traffic collision. His organs were donated and have saved the lives of several people, some of whom Nate’s parents have met.
