Nate’s Place, a Wellness and Recovery Center, will celebrate its grand opening on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 5 p.m.
The nonprofit center, at 3840 Channel Islands Boulevard in Oxnard, is named for Nate Rhoades, who grew up in Ojai and helped friends recovering from substance abuse or struggling with difficult life challenges.
During the celebration, visitors can tour Nate’s Place and learn about its services, enjoy light snacks and drinks, bid in a silent auction, and see the debut of the Emily Ricks’ music video “First Friend,” a song she wrote in honor of Rhoades and their friendship. The video can be viewed starting Feb. 23 at https://m.youtube.com/@imemilyricks
(To listen to the song now on Spotify, visit https://spoti.fi/3xulvPO; to listen to it on Apple Music, visit https://apple.co/3IuYr9J.)
Nate’s Place, founded by Nate’s parents, Larry and Heidi Rhoades, will address the needs of at-risk teens and young adults ages 13 to 25 by providing a clubhouse with healthy recreational actitivies, and staff to support them on their journey to recovery.
Along with peer recovery coaching, Nate’s Place will offer boxing, weight-lifting, pool, ping-pong, kayaking, hiking, meditation, art therapy and music lessons.
